SOUNDTRACK REVIEW:
The good looking people on the album cover of this soundtrack tell us that we would never be able to have a physique like that, let alone master their dance moves. So what do we do about it? Nothing, except to play the tracks and boogey along to the catchy melodies while we continue dreaming that maybe one day, just maybe, we can get talent scouted to star in a groovy dance movie like this one.
The soundtrack of the first action 3D dance movie to be made in Britain (we choose not to take into account how the 3D effects enhance the viewing pleasure of the movie) features a collection of 18 tunes performed by well known artistes like Cheryl Cole, N-Dubz and Pixie Lott.
“Pass Out” by English rapper Tinie Tempah sets the mood of things when you first pop the CD into the player. The energetic track will have you swaying to the music. Following that is the somewhat inspiring “We Dance On” by N-Dubz and Bodyrox. The interesting fusion of music style captures the mood and message of the movie well – to work towards your dreams.
As the movie’s plot involves an urban dance crew who is forced to partner up with ballet dancers from the Royal Dance School to utilise their facilities in order to win the Street Dance Championship, you hear tracks like “Work It Out” by Lightbulb Thieves which combines classical music and techno music to great effect. Those who prefer the loud and bombastic dance tunes will turn to Aggro Santos and Kimberly Wyatt’s “Candy” and Lethal Bizzle’s “Going Out Tonight”.
The very generous album completes its 62 minutes worth of music with other punchy tunes like “Get Sexy” by English pop girl group Sugababes, “Cash in My Pocket” by British music producer and MC Wiley and “Champion Sound” by the famed Fatboy Slim.
Also, listen out for the five minute “Club Battle” performed by LP, JC, Skibadee, Mc Det, Chrome, Blemish, which will put you on the tops of the cool jocks if you play it at your party.
