SOUNDTRACK REVIEW:
Like
the collection of stars in the movie itself, the Smokin Aces
soundtrack includes a diverse mix of soul, R&B, punk,
rock and electronica music all self-respecting pop movie soundtracks
boost of these days.
Headlining
the offering is The Prodigy’s First Warning, a good
start to any collection I say. Electronica, like bacon and
eggs, are a great start to any day by the way. Old school
rap/soul tracks in this album bring to the album a certain
degree of edginess while Clint Mansell’s scores give
hardcore “original soundtrack” fans something
to cheer to. Notable tracks include the smooth “Play
your cards right” from Common featuring Bilal and The
Bees’ “I love you.”
All
which means this soundtrack deserves a spin or two. This is
a credible introduction to music genres and artists that you
may not have noticed. Yet.
