SOUNDTRACK REVIEW:
It’s that time of the year when you walk into shopping malls and are greeted by jolly colors, and even jollier songs reminding you what a jolly festival Christmas really is. Put aside all the cynical arguments of commercialism and you should be enjoying the holiday season with this collection of cheery Christmas tunes from the movie starring the bright and chirpy Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon.
Dean Martin and Martina McBride’s “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” kick starts the 32 minute soundtrack with the warmth and happiness that marks every merry Christmas. The big band sound from American singer and TV host Perry Como’s “(There’s No Place Like) Home For The Holidays” should take away the scrooge in you should you be left uptight by the petty people at work. Then, have a swinging good time with American piano duo Ferrante & Teicher’s feel good performance of “Sleigh Ride”.
For something more contemporary, soak in the pleasant rock melodies with multi instrumentalist Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker’s “Christmas All Over Again” and Canadian musician Sarah McLachlan’s melancholically beautiful “O Little Town Of Bethlehem”.
For those who prefer to spread Christmas cheer with something more familiar, look no further than America singer Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock”, and the very vintage “The Christmas Song” performed by the talented Gavin DeGraw.
It’s never too early to stock up your collection of Christmas songs – even if you are not throwing a rollicking party this year, the holiday is so evergreen that you’d never go wrong by adding these 11 songs to your music library. There’s something for everyone in this pleasant collection of festive songs. Get it for your Christmas gathering, regardless of whether you are spending it with your family, friends or that special someone under the romantic mistletoe you planted before the date.
