REVIEW
Dead
or Alive the soundtrack, much like its movie counterpart,
is engineered as a male bedtime companion. It is what Tomb
Raiders in Mortal Kombat should sound like. Electronica. Synthesizer
big beats. Bass. Dance. Instantly forgettable without the
accompanying visuals. Paul
Oakenfold and The White Stripes lend their sound for one track
each, with the latter sounding particularly out of place here.
But the no-show belongs to Junkie XL, which is responsible
for six tracks in the album. Led by Tom Holkenborg, these
dudes were also responsible for the Elvis Presley “A
Little Less Conversation” remix on the world during
the 2002 World Cup. Why do they always deal with bouncing
objects?
This
soundtrack is perfect for testosterone inflamed boys ripping
that deltoid muscle in the gym: a lengthy playtime, but the
mind is not on the music.
