Synopsis:

What would you do if you received a cell phone call from a kidnapped woman desperate for help? How far would you go if you knew the cell phone you have in your hands is her only hope for survival; if the connection is lost - she's dead! Jessica has been viciously and brutally kidnapped. In the isolated attic where she is imprisoned, she manages to make a smashed telephone operable. Dialing randomly she makes contact with Ryan - her only link to the outside world. Forced into a high-risk world of murder and deception, Ryan must pursue the kidnappers all the while keeping the tenuous cell phone connection to Jessica alive. Review:

The idea of randomly calls a number to rescue you from a dire situation is dreadful. Especially if you are equipped with only a dismantled phone piece and you might be left for dead. "Cellular" is an action thriller based on this scenario. The movie on the whole moves rapidly fast so entering the cinema hall late might not enhance your viewing pleasure. Within 5 minutes into the movie, Kim Basinger's character is being kidnapped by a gang of thugs led by British actor Jason Stratham ("Transporter", "The One").

The mystery happening of the kidnapping starts to unfoil only when the movie progress. Audiences are left wondering at the appalling situation and follows Ryan (Chris Evans, the human torch in the upcoming "Fantastic Four") in the rescue mission. If that's not enough,

Director David Ellis ("Final Destination 2") even throws in an exciting car wrecking action piece and a humourous carjack sequence to keep you entertained. The gorgeous Kim Basinger meanwhile are left to scream and cry her lungs out and Jason Stratham's villian character is paper-thin, without much to do except acting tough and talking in a fake LA accent. It'a a nice surprise though to see William H Macy ("Fargo") playing a cop instead of those "losers" characters he normally played.

"Cellular" is a typical action thriller movie, nevermind the plotholes are as big as a Big Mac but isn't that what you want to see in the cinema when you simply just want to chill out after a hard week at work.
