Synopsis
:
Jason
Statham returns in his signature role as ex-Special Forces
operative Frank Martin, aka “The Transporter.”
Now retired in Miami, Martin makes a living driving for a
wealthy family, including twin brothers with whom he has unexpectedly
bonded. But when the boys are abducted, Martin must use all
his skills to bring them to safety and discover the kidnapper's
master plan.

Review:
What do you get if you combined the best of the Chinese and
the French cinema of today?
Well,
the answer is none other than “Transporter 2”.
Reprising
his original role as the ex-Special Forces operative turned
“transporter”, Jason Statham is Frank Martin,
the cool bald guy with excellent combat skills and agility.
This time round, the lone “transporter” must stop
a villain from releasing a deadly virus (sounds familiar?).
Of course, the so-called plot is just a very convenient excuse
for the Director Louis Leterrier (“Unleashed”)
and acclaimed Producer/co-writer Luc Besson to pepper the
story with endless shooting actions, car chases and massive
fight scenes.
Not
that you will mind if you are purchasing the admit ticket
just to have a short 88 minutes of “hiving off your
belief” mentality. If Newton is alive today, he will
definitely get into a fit over "Transporter 2”.
What happened to my theory of gravity? He might ask.
Michel
Julienne who hailed from a family, well-known for executing
many daredevil car stunts choreographed the car chase sequences
with plenty of insane energy, aided with special effects technology
of today. The end result is a wild stunt chase. And look out
for the scene whereby a bomb planted under a car is disarmed,
it's cool and laughable at the same time.
While
the French handled the automobiles, the Chinese takes charge
of the fight sequences. In comes Corey Yuen and his martial
arts team, the man who is behind plenty of Jet Li’s
action epics (“Fong Sai Yuk”, “The One”)
choreographed scenes after scenes of brutal combat fights
one involving Yuen’s favourite weapon of choice: The
Hose. Amazingly, Statham carried out the movements liked a
real seasoned fighter, in the league of Jet Li and Jackie
Chan in their younger days I would say.
In
addition, the ravishing black Audi replaces the sultry Shu
Qi (who appeared in the original), giving the new term “torque-asm”.
The slick machine and Jason Statham makes a fantastic pair-up
(a la Knight Rider). Despite an ending which is filled with
tacky effects, "Transporter 2" is akin to its tagline,
"The best in the business is back in the game".
That's the combination power of the French and the Chinese
for the uninitiated. It's a fun, over-the- top ride. Just
dispense the logic factor.
