SYNOPSIS:
Meet
Joe Bowers. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed. But when
a government hibernation experiment goes awry, Bowers awakens
in the year 2505 to find a society so dumbed-down by mass
commercialism and mindless TV programming that he's become
the smartest guy on the planet. Now it's up to the average
Joe to get the human evolution back on track!
MOVIE REVIEW:
Though it starred Luke Wilson, Idiocracy is not your usual
‘dude’ movie. A progeny of Mike Judge, creator
of Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill as well as the
part-time star of the Spy Kids franchise, you can expect some
dumb-ass jokes and imitation satire from this one. However,
Idiocracy turned out to be too clever for its own good and
got dumped so fast by the studios that it doesn’t even
have trailers.
Other than a sprinkling of F-words and a naked ass movie,
Idiocracy forces us to take a long hard look for 84 minutes
at our current culture of pop excess and *gasp* spectacle.
The satirical edge, however, is so complicit in the actor
roles that I certainly think someone may totally not get it
– hence the studio sell-out of what could still possibly
turn out to be cult classic.
Well, I think we all know that Beavis is a satire, so I am
not sure what the executives take us for.Maybe they think
they are the smartest people on earth right now.
