REVIEW
A
credible film begets a credible soundtrack. Like the sedated
performance by Will Ferrell in the movie, the Stranger Than
Fiction soundtrack consists of mostly introspective tunes
produced by Britt Daniel and Brian Reitzell who hail from
literary Austin indie-punk band Spoon, worthy followers of
the three-minute ditty (sans Green Day).
Spoon
provides four tracks here, including the catchy first track
The Book I Write and The Way We Get By, a tune that would
have pass off as the next Apple Ad Anthem. My offbeat favourite
Mind Your Own Business, the reggae-styled Dubbing in the Backseat
as well as That’s Entertainment by ‘70s masters
The Jam round off a meditative ode to the pensive leg-twitching
salariman crouching over their LCD monitor screens. Take heart,
office drone: at least the music is cool
