Synopsis:
In Revolution Studios' hilarious comedy White Chicks, Shawn
and Marlon Wayans play two ambitious but unlucky FBI agents
who go deep undercover as female, high society debutantes
in the exclusive Hamptons resort to investigate a kidnapping
ring. But as they strut their way into the biggest social
event of the year they find that breaking into high society
scene is a lot tougher than it looks.
Despite
their best efforts, agents Marcus and Kevin Copeland (Marlon
and Shawn Wayans) have worked their way down to the bottom
of the FBI food chain. Their most recent bust was a failure
and they are hanging on to their jobs by a thread. When a
plot to kidnap spoiled socialite sisters Brittany and Tiffany
Wilson (Maitland Ward and Anne Dudek) is uncovered, the big
case is given to Marcus and Kevin's rivals Vincent Gomez (Eddie
Velez) and Jake Harper (Lochlyn Munro). To add to their humiliation,
Kevin and Marcus are handed a thankless menial task - to escort
the Gucci-clad spoiled brats safely from the airport to their
hotel in the Hamptons. Even they can't get that one wrong.
Right?
When
Tiffany's pampered pooch, Baby, causes a traffic mishap, a
fight ensues and the two women are disfigured - well, if you
call a fat lip and a cut nose disfigurement, which to these
looks-obsessed socialites it certainly is. The heiresses refuse
to show their less than perfect faces at the important society
weekend fearing they could lose the highly coveted cover of
Hamptons Magazine to their archrivals Heather and Megan Vandergeld
(Jaime King and Brittany Daniel).
Faced
with the prospect of unemployment, Kevin hatches a plan: He
and Marcus will go undercover as the demanding divas and,
in the process, try to snare the kidnappers and restore their
reputations. With the real Wilson girls safely ensconced in
a luxury New York hotel, Marcus and Kevin assume their identities
and spring their most unlikely sister act on the unsuspecting
crème de la crème of Hamptons society, with
hilarious results.
Review:
Let me get this straight. Before you sit down to read this
review, I just want to let known that there are basically
2 types of movies, One: Movies that make you think. Two: Movies
that make no sense but is highly entertaining. "White
Chicks" belong to the latter. From the director of the
crude "Scary Movie" series, the Wayans brothers
are back in this self-written and directed gag piece. The
story in a nutshell is a revamped form of Martin Lawrence's
Big Momma House so instead of a granny suit, the cops are
disguising as "white chicks" (so the title goes)
to go undercover equipped with wigs, thick make-up and lingerie
stuff to protect the Wilson sisters and hoping to snare the
kidnappers.
Although
the make-up effects are heinous, the Wayans brothers never
fails to brighten up the screen with their insane body language,
over the top crude jokes (ranging everything from crazy one-liner
such as "Your mother's so old that her breast milk is
actually powder" to some racism stuff to poking fun at
celebrities such as Britney Spears and Pamela Anderson). In
fact, all the gags under the sun are practically covered.
Credit has to go to Terry Crews who played Darnell Johnson,
a star athlete with an all high sexual appetite who has a
crush on the undercover Marcus. Both of them share the best
sequence in the whole movie: Dining in a posh restaurant with
some "popping" chemistry. Instead of face-off, there's
a dance-off sequence in a trendy nightspot. Pretty neat hip-hop
dance steps filled with head spins by the two "girls".
(It's choreographed by Tina Landon who has done MTVs with
Janet Jackson).
"White
Chicks" is filled with one hilarious gag after another.
No doubt, it kind of feel draggy towards the end. The 100
minutes duration can be trimmed further so as to make it just
a bit tighter. No prizes for those who guessed the outcome
of the case. Other than that, if you prefer something light,
accepts crude and offensive jokes. This one is for you!
