WES CRAVEN (1939 - 2015)

Horror maestro Wes Craven who is known for his chilling horror classics such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Serpent and the Rainbow and The Hills Have Eyes have died of brain cancer.  

Craven was known for creating the iconic Freddy Krueger character in 1984 and a decade later in 1996, he reached another career peak with Scream, the slasher horror that featured the memorable opening scene starring Drew Barrymore. 

Scream spawned three more sequels with Craven pushing the genre boundaries with Red Eye and also produced remakes of The Hills Have Eyes and The Last House on the Left. Before his death, he was also executive producing the new Scream series for MTV.

His last onscreen feature works happened to be Scream 4 and My Soul to Take.
