Taking the centrepiece Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros unveiled the trailers to some of their most exciting movies in production.
First up is the second Fantastic Beasts movie, which sees a young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlist his former student Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to thwart the powerful Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) from raising pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
Next up is GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, which reveals the dilemma of releasing the legendary monsters living within the Earth or perishing, a decision that culminates in a fierce battle between the titular Godzilla and other iconic monsters including Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah.
And last but not least is the origin story of DC's 'SHAZAM!', with Zachary Levi in the titular role that in fact houses a 14-year-old teenage kid Billy Baston within. Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child, but he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).
Last but not least was perhaps the most anticipated trailer of them all, AQUAMAN, with Jason Momoa in the lead. Highlights in the new trailer include a look at the Marine Marvel’s straw-haired aquatic family, including Nicole Kidman as his mother Queen Atlanna and Patrick Wilson as his warmongering half-brother Orm (AKA Ocean Master), as well as an epic origin-story scene in which a young Arthur Curry (Kaan Guldur) marshals the righteous anger of an aquarium full of sharks. Another highlight is Amber Heard’s Mera, who manages to neg Aquaman — “You do your best thinking when you’re not thinking at all” — and jump out of a plane with no parachute (“Redheads! You gotta love ‘em!”) in the trailer’s two-minute span.
