TONY SCOTT (1944 - 2012)

Tony Scott, younger brother of Ridley and director of Hollywood hits such as Top Gun, Days of Thunder and Crimson Tide, has died at age 68 of apparent suicide. According to the Los Angeles Police Department’s harbor division, the British-born filmmaker jumped to his death from the Vincent Thomas bridge near Long Beach, Calif.

The director climbed a fence on the south side of the bridge and leapt off around 12:30 p.m. Police reportedly found a suicide note inside Scott’s black Toyota Prius, which was parked on the bridge.

Scott's last helmed movie was the action flick, Unstoppable starring Chris Pine and Denzel Washington. He has also directed Man on Fire, Deja Vu, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 and is rumoured to be developing Top Gun 2.
