Counting down to the worldwide launch of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE in November, Cathay Cineplexes has opened advance ticket sales to THE HUNGER GAMES Double Feature.
On 20 November (Wednesday) watch THE HUNGER GAMES at 9:15pm, followed by THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE at 12:05am. Priced at only $27.50* (usual price $49) per person, each package includes one ticket to THE HUNGER GAMES, one ticket to THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, free flow Popcorn and Coca-cola, and a limited edition The Hunger Games Mocking Jay pin.

Francis Lawrence chosen to replace Gary Ross for THE HUNGER GAMES sequel
20 April 2012 - When it was finally confirmed just the Mon before that Gary Ross had officially exited THE HUNGER GAMES sequel CATCHING FIRE due to what he felt was too short a pre-production time, rumours ran awild who would eventually be chosen to replace him.
Deadline reports today that Francis Lawrence, the director of Will Smith's I AM LEGEND and last summer's WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, has been selected by Lionsgate as the man for the job. It apparently came down to him and Bennett Miller, the director of MONEYBALL, but Miller wanted to push back the release date of the sequel so he would have more time to prep for this movie and shoot another Steve Carell movie FOXCATCHER. Given that timing was the very reason Ross left the project, it's no surprise that the gig eventually went to Lawrence.
He doesn't have much time on his hands though- the sequel is booked for a Nov 2013 release which means production has to start in August. Before his career in the motion pictures, Lawrence was music video director for Britney Spears, Green Day and Jennifer Lopez.
