Richard Donner, the director who famously directed the original Superman and the Lethal Weapon series has passed away at the age of 91.
A former actor from New York and husband of X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner, his big break came with the 1976 horror, The Omen and two years later, he helmed the troubled Superman which in the end turned into a huge hit. Sadly, he was fired from the sequel although 75% of the movie has been shot.
Donner went on to find success in movies liked The Goonies, Scrooged and Maverick and producing memorable titles liked Free Willy and The Lost Boys. His last credited directorial effort was the Bruce Willis actioner, 16 Blocks in 2006.
RIP Mr Donner.
