Clover Films announces the release of the fantasy action movie Happy Magic 开心魔法 in cinemas this Dec!

Local movie distributor Clover Films today announced the release of an upcoming US$10 mil fantasy action drama from the creators of IP MAN. Written by Edmond Wong, produced by Raymond Wong and directed by Wilson Yip, the effects-heacy production stars former Fahrenheit boyband member Wu Chun (as the hero of course), martial-arts artist Wu Jing (as the villian yet again), comedian Raymond Wong and yes the prolific Louis Koo.

In a press release to herald the start of the lensing of the movie, it was revealed that the movie would be set against the backdrop of an academic institution where Raymond Wong would play a professor with supernatural abilities. For his role, Raymond had to dye his hair golden and have it set high against his forehead.

"I was quite uncomfortable with the get-up initially, because I wasn't young anymore, so it took a while for me to get used to my golden crop of hair. But after some time when filming began, I realised that it really helped me get into the whole fantasy world more easily," said Raymond.

On the other hand, Wu Chun's costumes had to be specially designed to accommodate the many action sequences he would be involved in. Wu said that he was excited to be working with Raymond and Wilson, and added that it was 'quite fun' to have the opportunity to play a character with supernatural powers.

And with the involvement of Wu Jing, audiences can be sure that there will be plenty of action. Wu Jing had previously worked with director Wilson Yip on 'SPL', but he said that the martial arts in this movie is very different from what he has done before, particularly because of the heavy inclusion of CGI as well as the fantasy element in the movie.

"HAPPY MAGIC" is slated to be released in Singapore Dec 2011.
