BATTLESHIP launches with world premiere in Tokyo, Japan

The summer movie season gets an early start with the Asia rollout of the big-budget action blockbuster BATTLESHIP, based on the Hasbro game.

To celebrate the world premiere of the movie, director Peter Berg will lead his cast of Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, U.S. Army Col. Greg Gadson and Tadanobu Asano to Tokyo, Japan with a celebration in Tokyo’s Yoyogi National Gymnasium. Alongside the stars, almost 5,000 fans in attendance at the former site of the 1964 Summer Olympics will be the first to witness the epic action-adventure unfold.

“By hosting the world premiere of Battleship in Japan, we celebrate our countries’ shared love of epic adventures,” Berg said.  “Our heroes—Lt. Hopper of the U.S. Navy and Capt. Nagataof the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces—bring their crews together to battle an alien threat that emerges from the Pacific.  We hope those coming to Yoyogi are as excited to see Battleship’s international sailors in action as we are to show our film on opening night.”

BATTLESHIP opens in Singapore on April 12.
