Starring Taiwanese pop idol Alien Huang and homegrown host-comedian Michelle Chong, Michelle Chong’s directorial debut Already Famous has scored numerous sold-out sessions and collected an impressive S$170,000 when it sneaked during the weekend (24 – 27 November) with only 15 prints. Movie-goers are buying tickets up to 3 days in advance to watch Already Famous and cinemas have increased print count (from 15 to 24 prints) and sessions for the movie’s official opening on 1st December.

With regards to this encouraging result, the General Manager of Scorpio East Pictures Pte Ltd, Mr. Sim Wee Boon says, “We think Michelle Chong might have brought about a new perspective towards local films. Movie-goers have been giving feedback about not being able to get tickets for the movie. With more prints and sessions, we hope more people will be able to catch Already Famous when it opens on 1st December.” Mr. Suhaimi Rafdi, CEO of Cathay Organization commented, “Already Famous started its run at Cathay Cineplexes on a good footing; since its first sneak preview on 24 November, the film has been screened to packed houses every single session. The popularity of the film even made it the highest grossing movie title at one of our suburban multiplexes. With the film opening on 1 December, we can expect the film to gain more ground and see a further surge in its box office performance.”

Prior to the sneaks, meet-the-fans sessions at Suntec Convention Hall (22 Nov), The Cathay (22 Nov) and Plaza Singapura (23 Nov) were packed with large crowd of fans showing their support for the cast members of Already Famous.
