SYNOPSIS:
"Wedding"
is one of those rare stories that provide a glimpse into the
"lived-happily-ever-after" life of a newlywed couple.
A daughter of a rich family and a music college graduate,
Se-na (played by Jang Nara) works as a house manager at a
theater and is one day introduced to Seung-woo (played by
Ryoo Shi-won) a diplomat. Soon, the two tie the knot only
because they "fit" each other but as time goes by,
they clash over virtually every issue due to their widely
different backgrounds and life values. The marital discord
grows as Yun-soo (played by Myung Se-bin), Seung-woo's childhood
sweetheart came into picture. But watching Seung-woo grow
aloof from her, Se-na on the contrary starts feeling attracted
to him and decides to do her utmost to captivate his heart
for good.

REVIEW :
The wait
has been way too long since our local audience get to watch
the actions of Ryu Shi-won and Jang Nara in Korean drama series.
So this “Wedding” series, combining the pulling
forces of the two, is in time to pacify their fans. Let’s
see how their chemistry fares and the surprises they can bring.
Jang
Nara is one of the rarest Korean drama actresses who has become
famous in Asia for her untypical role. She is always seen
as a cheerful, fun-loving, “tough” cookie, not
that dainty kind. Like an ugly ducking transformed to a graceful
swan here in this drama series, Jang Nara shows us the other
facet in her new character as Lee Se-na while still keeping
her sassy and outspoken trait here – thankfully. Se-na
is a pampered rich girl who falls in love with Ryu Shi-won’s
character, Han Seung-woo, at 1st sight in a matchmaking session.
This is despite the fact that Seung-woo is much older than
Se-na, and later, she comes to know that he has a girl he
deeply likes and cannot forget.
Before
parting their ways after the 1st matchmaking date, Seung-woo
asks Se-na “What does wedding/marriage mean to you?”
Se-na was dumbfounded. “Wedding” is a drama series
that question the meaning of our present day marriages. What
happens to a couple’s life after a much anticipated
wedding? Can all the frenzy and passion of love last through
a lifetime? How does a couple come to solve the problems when
facing difficulties?
We
get to see the inner turmoil of Se-na on the realization that
Yun-soo is the one whom Shi-won holds a torch for. And the
tension that builds up in the marriage between the Se-na and
Shi-won. Is their rushed wedding a mistake from the start?
Shi-won’s
first love, Shin Yun-soo (Myung Se-bin) and his colleague,
Seo Jin-hee (Lee Hyun-woo) are a couple. But Yun-soo has always
liked Shi-won since childhood, so does Shi-won. But the latter
does not know it. They knew each other so well that people
around them can easily mistake them as a couple.
Jin-hee
is a career-focused person and always takes relationships
with women lightly till he met Yun-soo. Although deep in his
heart, he cares for Yun-soo a lot. On the surface, he acts
as if he is not. To complicate things, Jin-hee and Se-na tried
to hide the fact that they had known each other 6 years ago
and had a 3 days’ relationship in a foreign land. Would
this fact further wedge them apart?
Audience
will be surprised to see that Jang Nara cries a lot, perhaps
abit more than enough indeed and wails loudly. I still prefer
her cheerfulness and bouts of energy. As her Se-na character
likes pink color very much, she will be often seen in pink.
A new facet of hers that you can find it in this show only.
Ryu Shi-won continues to charm the audience with his gradual
mature acting skills and that familiar winsome smile,.
“Wedding”
examines the important components to keep a marriage alive
and lasting. Factors like trust, determination, care, communication
to understand more etc are essential. We can also see that
although a quick exit from a marriage is easy, sometimes it
might not be necessary if both parties are willing to iron
things out. This applies to unmarried couples too (just like
Yun-soo and Jin-hee).
