SYNOPSIS:
Teenagers Pin, Mos and Muay don’t believe in ghosts.
One night after a party, they decided to explore an abandoned
house that is rumored to be haunted. Mos suggest that they
visit a spirit house that is supposedly scarier due to its
notorious history of phantom sightings. After the visit, the
group is afflicted by a run of bad luck; horrible accidents
seem to follow them around, gradually straining their relationship
to breaking point. It’s as if a dastardly evil power
is dogging the trio, committed to break their spirit.

REVIEW
It
is very baffling how the genre of Asian horror has spawned
this movie characters that do the silliest things, despite
knowing that they will face a deadly fate by doing so. With
characters that are not the most intelligent around, we continue
to search of good horror flicks that will scare some daylights
out of us. Unfortunately, this Thai movie does not have the
X factor to fall into that category.
Three
girls decide to visit an obviously haunted house and live
to suffer the consequences.
Wow, that
is the shortest summary of a movie plot this reviewer has
written in a while.
The characters
are already not very clever enough to know that they have
been spooked by spirits; we wonder why director Montri Kong-Im
recruited cast who cannot act very well. Although these three
girls look sweet and demure, they look like they belong more
in a school video production.
The scares
in this Thai flick are sub standard too, with the obligatory
long-haired ghost with some bad make up, and some wrist-slashing
psychopath with some bad mockup blood.
Some good
atmospheres are set up, but eventually become too repetitive
for its own good.
There
was some potential for some really good scares, with some
of the spirits in traditional Thai costumes and moving to
the beats of the traditional Thai dance. Sadly, this is marred
by uneven pacing of the movie, which will make you uninterested
of whatever is going on after a while.
And
one last thing to complain before this reviewer sounds like
a whiner: please do not use the “oh, it was just a dream”
scare scene more than once. If possible, avoid it at all costs
because it is such an uncalled for horror movie trick.
