SYNOPSIS:
This eagerly-awaited sequel weaves four separate story-lines
together over the course of a three day period of public holidays.
As before, its unique appeal comes from blending crime-solving
action with highly entertaining depictions of the various
characters involved. This time out there is the added attraction
of a new layer of conflict provided by the newly-introduced
Senior Superintendent, Hitomi Okita. Hitherto, the strife
between the local precinct and "head office" was
the source of much drama, but with Okita's appearance, the
local force's notion of police work is turned entirely on
its head. Having spent the last five years perfecting the
philosophy and technique of "community policing",
Sergeant Aoshima is shaken to the core by the new challenge
this woman represents.

REVIEW
"Bayside
Shakedown 2" is what I would referred to as a typical
Japanese bento set or more commonly known as a lunch box consisting
of different interesting foodbits ranging from kantsu (chicken
pieces) to tempura (fried prawns) to go with rice. The Japanese
all along possessed an innovative way of blending a variety
of elements but simultaneously never neglecting the flow and
overall of a product.
Yuji Oda
plays a local police officer who is stucked at his career
low with apparently zero crime cases that could aroused his
attention. Not even a weird guy who preyed and bit on young
school girls liked a vampire or a pickpocket family. But when
a CEO of a company is killed in the most bizarre manner. Oda
is ready to jump straight into the case provided he can pass
through the hurdles of the higher police authorities who have
took over the investigation from the local police group.
A
plotline like this might seem simple enough but throw in lots
of dialogues and brickfest involving the hierarchy of the
workforce and Oda's denial of his love for his female colleague
and you would think "Bayside Shakedown 2" has went
derailed from the main story point. Well, that's the beauty
of it. Just when you are feeling all attached to the subplots,
new findings and clues are unearthed and ultimately the murder
case is soon to be solved.
With
so many storylines going at one time, "Bayside Shakedown
2" is a feast to behold. Unlike a predictable crime thriller,
this Japanese crime fare will go down in history as one of
the most creative ever in this genre. In other words, I would
definitely go for a bento set anytime!
AUDIO/VISUAL:
The movie comes with Japanese Dolby Digital 2.0. The overall
dialogue and action sequences at the beginning are executed
with much flair and surround sound bursting moments. The faultless
dvd transfer brings to life the excellent picturesque of Odaiba,
the angles of the infamous rainbow bridge and Aqua City are
postcard like.
