BOOK REVIEW:
To
coincide with the release of the live-action movie, DK Publishing
has come up with a series of “Transformers” related
book products including this title “Transformers: The
Movie Guide” among others.
Before
you even flipped the book, a nice shimmering hologram featuring
the famous Autobot’s logo and their fearless leader,
Optimus Prime stoutly graced the book cover. And yes, there
are plenty of gorgeous images of the main movie characters
spread out on the pages. The crowd’s favourite, Bumblebee
for example has around 6 pages dedicated to him. Practically
every character has an individual small intro on their respective
robot and vehicle mode and fact boxes with little wordings
to facilitate easy reading.
Of
course since it’s targeted mainly at the young crowds,
adult fans should steer clear of this to avoid huge disappointment.
For the hefty price of S$31.50, you don’t get the entire
movie Autobots and Decepticons featured. In fact, weapon specialist
Ironhide and the infamous Starscream is missing.
But well, it’s for the kids anyway so don’t complain.
CHOICE XCERPT:
"Where there is life, there is hope.” So said Optimus
Prime as he made desperate, last-ditch preparations to launch
the Allspark into space. Prime knew full well that without
the Allspark, Cybertron itself might die. But somewhere in
the vast universe, the Allspark would bring it's gift of life
to others. For Prime, that was enough.
VERDICT:
This
book is a good start for your kids to start and cultivate
their passion for “Transformers” if you don’t
mind the steep price.
