On
Location: "1318", 19 Teo Hong
Road ~ The Medicine Hall Set, 28 Feb
2006 |
In
the quiet mid-afternoon, on 28th Feb, off
Neil Road at Chinatown, there was this flurry
of activities going on at this seemingly
ordinary traditional medical hall. Not anything
unusual except with the on-going press conference
for the movie debut collaboration of the
famous Canto-pop legend Alan Tam and popular
singer, Hacken Lee, with FM 93.3’s
Denise Chew as the host. Excitedly, this
is the real shooting location for this entertaining
comedy, “1318” .
Produced
by established Hong Kong filmmaker Clifton
Ko Chi Sum, this is a worthy-to-note collaboration
for Mediacorp RainTree Pictures, Spring
Time Cinema and Impact Entertainment.
Kicking-start
the event, CEO of Mediacorp RainTree Pictures,
Daniel Yun, felt that this movie is an exceptional
workpiece to showcase the different wonderful
colours of culture with its cross-straits
production team and cast. And it is the
one movie that is timely acceptable by and
nonetheless, suitable for the gradually
mature cinema market.
At
our anticipation and in brisk speed, the
cast, consisting of HongKong Leung Wing
Chung, beautiful Hu Jing from China and
our very own Mediacorp artistes Ng Hui,
wacky Patricia Mok and Abigail Chay, were
introduced. And all were dressed as their
movie characters. Unsurprisingly, stealing
the limelight was Alan Tam. He had a fake,
prominent belly and was bespectacled, resembles
like an old uncle. With all smiles and friendliness,
he hoped that this movie would be accepted
by the masses, not only Chinese, but reaching
to the rest too. He candidly admitted that
he had gained at least 20 pounds for his
role and as part of his sacrifice; he had
to fight off his skin allergies once after
rushing for a straight 13 hour shooting
with his thick, prosetic make-up.
Our
local Jeff Wang, came in last apologetically
after rushing straight from another of his
shooting location. Like the rest of the
cast, he too was certainly honored to work
with respected Alan Tam and overseas artistes.
It
was, is and will be a wonderful experience
and valuable exposure for the whole cast.
"1318"
will be filmed in three countries: China
(Guilin), Hong Kong and Singapore. Singapore
is the last leg of the production. It will
be released locally by Shaw organization
and targetted to hit theatres on 8 June
2006. Keep a lookout for it when it debuts
on the big screen!
